Residents evacuated in Buderim siege

NORTH Buderim residents were evacuated and police negotiators called in after a man laid siege to a home for more than seven hours.

Emergency services were called to a Bangalow Ct home about 5.30pm yesterday.

Police said a 42-year-old man had barricaded himself inside a room and was threatening to blow up the property.

Officers evacuated nearby residents and specialist negotiators spoke with the man.

They were able to convince the man to leave the home shortly after midnight.

The man was taken to Nambour General Hospital for treatment.

No one was injured.
