Two helicopters in Mt Beerwah rescue after pair fall 20m

UPDATE 12.40pm: Two rescue helicopters are taking a man and a woman to hospital after they fell about 20m while climbing Mt Beerwah and the man suffered spinal injuries.

The first helicopter has already taken one of the climbers to the Royal Brisbane Hospital. 

The second helicopter is now preparing to winch up the remaining patient. 

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman could not confirm the condition of the patients, but they are believed to be in a stable condition. 

The man aged in his 20s suffered spinal injuries, leg injuries and laceration in the fall this morning, while the woman aged in her 20s suffered lacerations.
 

UPDATE 11.10am: Rescue crews are preparing to winch two climbers into a rescue helicopter after they fell up to 30m down Mount Beerwah.

A man aged in his 20s has sustained spinal and leg injuries in the fall this morning, while the woman suffered lacerations. 

Two Queensland Fire and Emergency Service officers and paramedics climbed the mountain to reach the pair, who were reportedly found about a quarter of the way to the summit.

The crew is readying the patients to be winched up to the helicopter and airlifted to hospital.
 

UPDATE 10am: A helicopter has been called in for a Mount Beerwah rescue, after rescue crews located a man with serious injuries after a 20-30m fall down the mountain. 

Paramedics have just reported the man, aged in his 20s, has suffered spinal and leg injuries after falling while climbing the mountain this morning. 

A woman, aged in her 20s, also fell and has suffered laceration injuries. 

The Rescue 500 helicopter has been tasked to the scene.

BREAKING 9am: Paramedics and rescue crews have launched efforts to reach two people who have reportedly fallen while climbing Mount Beerwah.

Crews have arrived on scene at the Mount Beerwah carpark, after the call for help came about 8.20am.

The 000 caller reported the pair had fallen, but it is not yet clear how far.

Two Queensland Fire and Emergency Services officers are climbing the mountain with paramedics to find the patients.

According to initial reports, the climbers are about a quarter of the way up the mountain.

On Friday a woman had to be rescued after she fell and became lost near the Mount Beerwah summit.
