Rescue chopper called to Fraser Island twice in 12 hours

RACQ CareFlight Rescue have flown to Fraser Island twice in the past 12 hours.

On Monday night, the Sunshine Coast crew braved strong winds to airlift a man aged in his thirties suffering a medical condition.

He was flown to Hervey Bay Hospital for further treatment.

About 10am on Tuesday, the Bundaberg based-crew flew to the aid of a 40-year-old woman experiencing chest pain.

The woman, on holidays from the Moreton Bay region, was stabilised by the helicopter's intensive care flight paramedic and paramedics based on the island.

She was flown to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
