Registrations now open for Buccaneers

APPLICATIONS to be among the Wide Bay Buccaneers' first players and coaches have officially opened.

The Buccaneers will represent the region in the new-look men's Queensland Premier League and women's Football Queensland National Premier League competitions next year after Football Queensland granted them licences earlier this year.

Wide Bay, covering Bundaberg, Hervey Bay and Maryborough, will fields male teams in the Under-13, U14, U15, U16, U18, U20 and senior men's divisions, and female teams in the U13, 15, 17 and senior women's divisions.

The team has chosen Bundaberg's Martens Oval as its home ground for the 2018 season, but there is a possibility games will be held in Maryborough or Hervey Bay.

Expressions of interest to be one of the club's qualified coaches close today.

Initial trials for the U13-16 teams will be held in Bundaberg on Sunday, October 8, and Maryborough on Saturday, October 14.

A final trial will be held in Bundaberg on Saturday, October 21.

Initial trials for the U18, U20 and senior teams will be held in Maryborough on Tuesday, October 10, and Bundaberg on Tuesday, October 17.

A final trial will be held in Bundaberg on Sunday, October 22.
