Region lotto hot spot
IF you want to win the lotto, you may well be living in the right place.
The Wide Bay Burnett region has been named a lotto hot spot, largely thanks to a $6 million win by a Bargara man in May this year.
Another four division one winners have netted the region just under $8 million in lotto wins, earning the area the title of seventh hottest lotto region in Queensland.
Bargara Central NewsXpress owner Wayne Chapman said the $6 million win was the largest he had sold at both the Bargara Central NewsXpress and the Bargara NewsXpress, in See Street.
Between the two stores, Mr Chapman said there had been a number of winners in divisions two, three and four, including a $1.2 million winner at the See Street shop about 18 months ago.
“We get a lot of happy people here. It’s great when they are people who really deserve a break,” he said.
A spokesperson for Golden Casket said they were often asked for tips to help win big money.
“Releasing information like lotto hot spots is always popular, but we remind players that lotto remains a game of chance. When it comes down to it, every ball has an equal chance of being drawn,” they said.
Other local stores to have recorded big wins include Station News Bundaberg, Biggenden Newsagency, NewsXpress Chippendalls and McCrackens Newsagency Bundaberg.
