Record travellers at Bundy airport
THE number of passengers using the Bundaberg Regional Airport during January reached a new all-time high.
Figures released by the Bundaberg Regional Council showed a 38% increase in the number of people flying in and out of the city during the first month of the year compared with the previous year.
Bundaberg Mayor Lorraine Pyefinch said 11,559 passengers travelled to and from the city last month – rewriting the record books on the highest number of passengers to use the airport in January.
“These figures vindicate Qantaslink's decision to reinstate several flights, which were set to be rationalised due to a perceived low demand during the Christmas and school holiday period in January,” Cr Pyefinch said.
