Readers commend woman for helping crash victim
Cathy Castles, one of the women who stopped to help at a horrific Ring Rd crash, has opened up about the "traumatic” task.
Ken Wilson In this age of drug use and litigation it is wonderful to see someone stop and help someone in trouble instead of standing back and just posting pictures on social media. Well done and thank you.
Heidie Grimson Thank you, Cathy. A stranger assisted my mum with opening her airways and supported her until paramedics arrived after a dreadful car accident also. My mum had three years of rehabilitation, but the selfless act by a stranger has given our family at least another 30 years. She celebrates her 84th next month. Wishing you, Cathy, all the best and this lovely lady a speedy recovery.
Susan Willow SimonsAlthough I have nothing but praise for Cathy for stopping and rendering assistance, as usual I have zero praise for the NewsMail and their rather heartless publishing of information that is upsetting to family and friends of the injured woman. No matter the tragic event, you can always rely on NewsMail to publish inappropriate things.
Courtnie Faithfull I do hope this lady has an appropriate support network around her after witnessing and being involved in such a traumatic event. It's always confronting for those not used to dealing with these scenes, so I hope she seeks help if needed (whether from family, friends or a professional).
Shane Anthony Van Loon That's so good when she stopped to help the person. Everyone should say thank you to her for stopping and helping the lady in that car. If she didn't stop, the laddie in the car could have died but she got out of the car and is in really good hands now...
Ruth Mansfield Good on you Cathy. First aid training is so important.
Carmel Jensen Thank you for being there at the right time. This was a great outcome because of you.
Stephanie Youngberry You are amazing Cathy.
