Queenslanders hunt title double

QUEENSLAND is well in contention to complete the double and win both Australian Hockey League titles.

Both sides, the Blades (men), and Scorchers (women), are unbeaten and need only to draw their final cross-over games against the ACT today to qualify for tomorrow's finals.

The defending champion Blades top the ladder after starting the tournament with three wins before they were held to a 2-2 draw by Victoria in Melbourne on Wednesday night.

Dylan Wotherspoon and Rob Hammond scored for the Queenslanders before Russell Ford (pictured) equalised for the host with two minutes to go.

Depending on today's results, Victoria and the ACT are the other states still in the hunt for a place in the gold-medal game.

The Scorchers, who last won the AHL crown in 2005 before finishing second five times between 2006-2010, are, like their male counterparts, are still unbeaten ahead of today's clash with ACT.

A goal from Steph Kershaw gave the Queenslanders a 1-0 win over Western Australia on Wednesday.
