QLD: State of Origin game two player ratings

Billy Slater - 6 Beautiful pass in lead-up to Greg Inglis try. Good talk from the back, but only made 53m from 10 runs with his dodgy shoulder.

Darius Boyd - 6 Helped out with yardage early, but didn't see much of him as the game went on. Played his part beautifully in support for the Greg Inglis try in the first half.

Greg Inglis - 8 Scored a terrific try and should have had another one, which was controversially disallowed. Responded magnificently after a poor game one in Sydney.

Justin Hodges - 5 Rare quiet night for the veteran. Michael Jennings ran rings around him in first half.

Will Chambers - 5 ½ Again good yards with 113m. But a poor miss on Jennings led to NSW try in the third minute, and bad handling mistake in the second half.

Johnathan Thurston - 8 Poked his nose through in the lead-up to Queensland's first try, and orchestrated Queensland's second by sending the ball down the Maroons' potent left side. Great chase and tackle on Josh Dugan from beautiful Cameron Smith kick which forced a dropout.

Daly Cherry-Evans - 6 After a great tackle on Trent Hodkinson forced the ball free early, he was quiet. Did assist a try for Matt Gillett though.

Matt Scott 5 ½ Scored his first Origin try in 11th minute with a nice direct run, but made just 41m. Bad defensive miss allowed Aaron Woods to score.

Cameron Smith (capt) - 8 Solid game as usual. Slick service from dummy-half and made 42 tackles. Not his fault the Maroons lost.

Nate Myles - 6 Tough early and battled on after copping a heavy tackle. Made 30 tackles but limited impact with his hit-ups.

Aidan Guerra - 6 Big work rate and made 12 runs, but lost his way a bit as the game went on. Worked hard defensively.

Sam Thaiday - 5 ½ A rare quiet game with just 37m made.

Corey Parker 8 As usual, attracted multiple defenders with the majority of his 13 hit-ups. Nice catch and pass on the Blues line put Scott over for try. Great defensively.

Michael Morgan - 5 Only came on with less than 30 minutes to play and wasn't able to create anything.

Josh McGuire - 6 Good go-forward and quick play the balls. Looks set to be part of the team for many years.

Matt Gillett - 6 ½ Scored a try and made 30 tackles. Justified his place in the side after an average season so far for the Broncos.

Jacob Lillyman - 6 Solid again for his state. Never shirks the issue but didn't have much impact.
