Pulling power at the fore

THE roar of engines filled the air at Sandy Hook yesterday when the Bundaberg Powerboat Club held its first meeting of the year.

Powerboat enthusiasts along with families turned out to enjoy the brilliant sunshine and the sight of the boats taking to the water in force. There were a range of classes, including open unlimited, open outboard, 850cc and a combined restricted class of skiffs and hydroplanes.

Winner of the Open Class was Ian Cole from Childers, and David Parker seized victory in his boat Kryptonite in the 850cc class.

The only woman on the water, Dee Downes, had come up from the Sunshine Coast to challenge Parker and other competitors in the 850cc. But she was no match for Kryptonite.
