Pucker up for a Guinness world record

THE countdown is on as the Bundaberg community gets ready to attempt a world record tonight.

Wear your pyjamas and join in the fun as the Wide Bay Whirly Birds aim to have the most people applying lipstick at the same time, all for a great cause.

Event organisers Madonna Ryan and Tracey Palmer came up with the novel fundraiser for the local helicopter rescue service, and they have been thrilled with the community response.

"We're getting really excited," Ms Ryan said.

"It's not too late to be a part of the record attempt."

To break the record, 1003 people need to take part.

A sausage sizzle will be run by the Royal Flying Doctor Service and anyone who turns up without their pyjamas on will incur a gold coin donation penalty.

"There are prizes for the best slippers and pyjamas, for both males and females," Ms Ryan said.

Participants need to bring along a dark shade of lipstick that will be visible on camera, as the event is required to be filmed to verify the attempt.

Get involved:

Where - Win Stadium, near South School

When - Today from 5pm, world record attempt at 7.30pm

Cost - $10 per person

Bring - A dark shade of lipstick
