STATE of Origin fans are encouraged to avoid congestion and travel free with Translink to tonight's State of Origin decider.

The Deputy Premier and Minister for Transport Jackie Trad said all Origin fans should plan their journey and take advantage of extra public transport services and free travel.

"For supporters travelling to the game in Brisbane tonight, public transport is the best way to get to Suncorp Stadium, with free travel and extra services on offer," Ms Trad said.

"Fans with pre-purchased tickets can travel free on all Brisbane Transport buses and QR trains from midday until the last service on game day.

"A total of 23 extra trains will operate on the network and dedicated shuttle buses will travel to the stadium to make sure all Origin fans can get to the game in time for the 8.15pm kick off.

From 6.15pm, high-frequency shuttle buses will travel to Suncorp from Brisbane City, Carindale, Chermside, Eight Mile Plains/Mount Gravatt and The Gap, returning for an hour after the end of the game.

The times of the extra trains and shuttle buses can be found on the TransLink website.

"Brisbane will be buzzing with more than 50,000 supporters travelling to Suncorp, so I urge everyone to be patient when travelling on public transport, be mindful of others-even Blues fans-and allow a little extra time to travel.

"People planning to celebrate the Maroons' win into the evening and catch public transport home from Brisbane's CBD after 11pm should check the time of the last service departing the city."
