Premier's apology to victims for DV blunder

PREMIER Annastacia Palaszczuk has personally apologised to a woman whose secret location the Child Safety Department revealed to a violent ex-boyfriend charged with heinous attacks on her.

The phone call was one of three made by the Premier, the Child Safety Minister Shannon Fentiman, and Director-General Michael Hogan in the wake of revelations in The Courier-Mail as the woman and her three children were finally rushed into temporary accommodation more than a week after the bungle was realised, the Courier Mail reports.

It came as the Opposition called for an urgent audit of domestic violence cases being handled by the Department to ensure other families were not in danger from abusive ex-partners.

Ms Palaszczuk brushed off calls to sack Ms Fentiman as she promised a full and independent investigation into the shocking bungle.
