Powerful storms leave damage

TREES that had stood for hundreds of years were ripped down in what has been described as an "intense" storm on Monday afternoon.

Motorists were also trapped as the Maryborough-Biggenden Rd was closed.

James Hansen said people came out the woodwork with chainsaws and tractors to clear the debris on his property.

The Boompa dairy farmer said he did not know many of the people who came to his aid.

With powerlines also down, Mr Hansen and his family didn't finish the milking until after 9pm on Monday.

On Tuesday, landowners were cleaning up the debris off fence lines and renewing fences while the SES was busy tarping a home that had half its roof blown off.
