Power cut after car smashes pole

A MAN was taken to Bundaberg Hospital after his car slammed into a pole outside Norville State School yesterday about 4pm, bringing power lines down onto the road.

Queensland Fire and Rescue Bundaberg station officer Col Morrow said the pole was broken off at ground level.

“It could potentially have been very nasty if it had been an hour earlier as kids were coming out of school,” he said.

It is believed the man had minor injuries.

Power was cut to 60 Ergon Energy customers for 10 minutes from 4.15pm so low-voltage powerlines could be safely removed from the damaged vehicle.
