Potters group fires up kiln

THE Childers Firehouse Potters have the kiln fired up for 2010, meeting twice a week at the Old Childers Fire Station to create their pieces of art.

Individual creations are worked on from 9am to 3pm on Mondays.

For those who are not able to make the Monday session, the facility in Churchill Street is now open on Saturdays from 9am until 3pm.

Artworks are available for sale during these periods as well.

Demonstrations by accomplished potters are available for those just learning how to mould clay or wheel-throw pots.

Accomplished potter June Daniels said many of the women were not sure if they could trust the men to fire up the kilns any more after a fire was accidentally started on the premises recently.
