Port fuel terminal ‘positive’

FUEL terminals at the Port of Bundaberg should be up and running by the end of this year, according to owners Marstel Terminals.

The eight bulk storage tanks, which can hold up to 30 million litres of petrol or diesel, were bought by the company in September 2008 but were in a run-down condition, with no pipes or pumps connected.

Marstel general manager Tim Gunning said the company would visit Bundaberg in February or early March to examine the project.

“We’ve just got our terminals at Port Alma up and running so now our attention will turn to Bundaberg,” Mr Gunning said.

“It’s still looking very positive and we hope to have it in operation by the end of this year.”
