Pauline Hanson in town as One Nation targets Fraser Coast

PAULINE Hanson claims her party can win the seat of Hinkler based on support she received while meeting shoppers in Hervey Bay's Stockland Shopping Centre.

Ms Hanson flew into Hervey Bay Airport yesterday to announce Damian Huxham as the One Nation candidate for Hinkler.

Speaking with the Chronicle, Ms Hanson said the region's high unemployment would be a focus for One Nation.

She said apprenticeship programs and free tertiary education would lower unemployment.

Tourism would also be stimulated under One Nation.

"You've got a beautiful area for tourism and you should promote it," Ms Hanson said.

"We don't need a Minister for Cities, we need a Minister for rural and regional Australia."

Running for the seat of Maryborough, Mr Huxham attracted 7% of the primary vote in this year's State Election.

"I'm just grateful for the opportunity to run with Pauline and One Nation again," he said.

"I know the work situation and how hard it is to gain employment."
