Police seize fake $20 from business

A FAKE $20 note has been located in the till of a business on January 5.

Police said the circumstances of how the note came into the store's possession and who presented it are not known.

The note is similar to a normal twenty dollar note, except the clear window is opaque and grey in colour.  There is also Chinese handwriting visible on the note.

This is an ideal opportunity to remind businesses right across our district to show some caution. Businesses in our area have been well versed in checking $50 notes - we have almost exclusively dealt with counterfeit $50 notes in recent years, police said.

If you receive any note which raises your suspicions, contact your local police.

Police said if the person who presented the note to you is still present, ask them to remain until the arrival of police.

They may have valuable information which could assist us to trace the recent movements of the note itself.

Police said they don't have access to an image of the $20 note which was seized by Moranbah police.

Anyone with information which could assist with this matter should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000.
