Police plead for help with case

POLICE are appealing for help to solve the murder of the eight-year-old girl they discovered in a drain near Walker Street in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Detective Superintendent Maurice Carless said anyone with information should come forward to Bundaberg Police or telephone Crime Stoppers.

“We’re in the early stages of the investigation, and scientific officers, forensic officers and fingerprints and other specialists are in attendance, trying to determine what exactly has occurred,” he said.

The senior officer said he was appealing to members of the public who may have any information about the events leading up to the little girl’s death to come forward.

“We’re asking for anyone with assistance or anyone who saw anything in the area at the time to contact Crime Stoppers or their local police station,” Det Supt Carless said.
