Police link two chemist thefts
BUNDABERG and Bargara police are hunting two suspects after large quantities of medication were stolen at break-ins at two pharmacies.
CIB Detective Sergeant Ben Fadian said the medications stolen could be used to make amphetamines.
He said the timing and locations of the break-ins led police to believe they may be linked.
The first break-in took place at the Soul Pattinson pharmacy in Bargara about 11.45pm on Tuesday.
A large number of pseudoephedrine-based products were stolen.
About 7am on Wednesday, workers at the Coral Coast Pharmacy in Bourbong Street discovered there had been a break-in there.
A large quantity of antihistamine tablets had been stolen.
A police spokesman said the suspects were believed to be a man and possibly a woman.
He said the male had a slim build and was wearing a navy jumper over the top of a light shirt, a black balaclava and track pants.
The woman is of heavy build and was wearing a grey and white hooded jumper, black track pants and a black cloth over her face.
Security cameras recorded footage of the break-in at the pharmacy in Bourbong Street, and still images have been released.
Police have asked the public to come forward if they recognised anyone from the images.
