Poets' society set to meet

THE first club meeting for the Bundaberg Poets’ Society will be held on February 13 in the Rum City Silver Band Hall in Targo Street.

The afternoon will start at 1.30pm with a short meeting followed by poetry recitals with a break for afternoon tea and a chat and concluding with more poetry.

These afternoons are open to any persons interested in reading, writing or just listening to poetry and are enjoyable and lots of fun.

On the weekend of July 9-11 the club is hosting the National Australian Bush Poetry Championships at Brothers Sports Club in the Shamrock Room.

If you have never experienced bush poetry performances then this weekend is not to be missed as there will be two-and-a-half days of performance competitions with concerts on both the Friday and Saturday evenings.

For more information on club meetings or the National Australian Bush Poetry Championships telephone 4151 4631, 0411 360 922 or 4159 1705.

HEALTHY LIVING

The Heart Foundation has a network of local volunteer speakers available to visit your club, community group or organisation to speak about general heart health focusing on the benefits of lifestyle change and practical information on how to go about it.

If you would like to invite a volunteer speaker to your organisation please contact Margaret Richards at the Heart Foundation on (07) 3872 2507. Or, if you would like to volunteer as a speaker for the Heart Foundation to help raise awareness of heart health throughout the community please contact Margaret Richards on the above number for further phone information.
