PM to LNP faithful: Palaszczuk government makes us look good

PRIME Minister Tony Abbott has told hundreds of Queensland LNP supporters the longer the Palaszczuk government lasts the better its LNP predecessors will look.

He made the comments during a speech to party faithful at the LNP state convention on Saturday in Brisbane.

But Mr Abbott brushed over the shocking election defeat that saw Labor grab the reins of power from the LNP, saying only that the campaign was terribly disappointing.

The PM said the next premier would be Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg.

Mr Abbott spruiked Federal funding announced following the release of the northern Australia white paper in June.

He maintained the government would not increase tax on super.

"Your hard-earned savings, they belong to you," Mr Abbott said.

"They aren't a piggy bank for government to raid whenever it's in trouble."

Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss has been attending the convention since it started on Friday.
