Pyjama Day to help kids in care
WINTER'S wrath has hit Bundaberg this week and it's pretty tempting to stay in your PJs all day, so on Friday the Pyjama Foundation is giving you the perfect excuse.
Bundaberg Pyjama Angel and foundation secretary Charlie Sorenson said Pyjama Day was all about wearing your pyjama's to support the service, which helps children in foster care.
Mr Sorenson said in 2004 it was identified that children in care were often behind in their literacy skills in relation to other children their age.
"Pyjama angels visit an allocated child in care each week for an hour and it's that child's special time when they are the centre of attention," he said.
"The angels sit and read, play games and work on their letters to help improve their literacy."
On Friday, businesses and groups are encouraged to get involved by registering an event and collecting donations with Bundaberg and Sugarland CommBank branch staff selling Pyjama Foundation pens to raise money for the great cause.
