Pillow Talk ready for Bundaberg opening

ABOUT a dozen Bundaberg people will find themselves with jobs as Pillow Talk opens in the city for the first time.

The Johanna Bvld store's grand opening will be held this Saturday.

Pillow Talk managing director Heath Goddard said Bundaberg was an ideal location for one of the group's stores to set up shop.

"It's a town with lots of people in it," he said.

"We've opened something like 20 stores in the last two years."

The bedding and homewares superstore includes bedroom, bathroom and laundry accessories - but not furniture.

"We don't sell mattresses. Technically what we do is everything you use at home in the bedroom, we sell it," Mr Goddard said.

"We have a much broader range than anyone in the world, never mind Australia.

"About 90% of what we sell we design ourselves."

Mr Goddard said the chain of stores was going from strength to strength despite a tough economic environment.

"It's all positive," he said.

"We're not doing doom and gloom, we're doing excitement."

Mr Goddard said setting up a store was no small task, with five semi-trailers of stock kitting out the shop ready for opening day and about two years planning behind it.

"It's been a work in progress and now we're about to open the doors," he said.
