Police have confirmed the dead boy, 15, was from nearby Everton Park.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics worked on the "young male" for some time but he was unable to be revived and died at the scene.

Another teenager was taken to Lady Cilento Hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Several other people fled the scene after the crash, police said.

"As you can see there's debris all over the road and there's a lot of people shaken up," a witness told Channel 9 this morning.

"It was terribly confronting that you are waking up in the middle of the night and then yelling at the people to stop, who caused the accident."

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
