Hervey Bay miner Damian Huxham to challenge Keith Pitt

ONE Nation leader Pauline Hanson will fly into the Fraser Coast today as the party's candidate for Hinkler is announced.

Maryborough FIFO miner Damian Huxham will be on the ballot paper for the party's assault on the seat of sitting National's member Keith Pitt.

"I'm standing with One Nation this election as I believe the two party preferred system is failing us," he said.

"We are just going back and forth alternating between the two majors and neither of two majors are ever given the job of governing for doing a good job, they're simply elected as a protest vote."

Mr Huxham will join Ms Hanson meeting Hervey Bay businesses and locals.

Mr Huxham stood for the seat of Maryborough in this year's State Election, where he attracted about 7% of the primary vote.

"The positive results we received at the State Election with only nine days campaigning was quite amazing and the positive feedback since has been amazing," he said.

Mr Huxham said the biggest problem facing the Hinkler electorate was high unemployment - something he'd fix growing the tourism industry.

"Investing in tourism rewards and stimulates almost all small to medium businesses reasonably quickly," he said.
