Parry and Bonato keep hot pace

BUNDABERG duo Tom Parry and Trina Bonato again excelled at the Benaraby Raceway meeting on Saturday.

In Competition class, Parry pushed his hot Torana sedan to a personal best (PB) time for the third meeting in a row, and he was also victorious in the final, clocking 9.153 seconds on a 9.15 dial-in.

After taking out her first win four weeks earlier in the Street class, young gun Bonato again drove her racy blue utility full throttle, but this time she had to settle for runner-up.

With sharp reaction time and consistent times, she secured a place in the finals, where she ran 16.89sec on a 16.80 dial-in but was narrowly beaten.

Parry and Bonato's results also keep them in the running for the track championships, which will also be held at Benaraby on November 18 and 19 and will be the last meeting for the year on the track.

An off-street meet will be held on the Friday night with the points round eight on the Saturday.

A number of other Bundaberg racers are also in contention for the track titles.

The club's presentations will be held on December 10.

Meanwhile, another local drag racer, Jason Payne, travelled to Willowbank Raceway last Wednesday to compete in their Test and Tune, and he too turned on the power.

He revved up his Nissan Skyline to a new PB time of 9.74sec at 157 miles per hour over the quarter-mile strip.
