P-plater mum fined over crash into fence

A BUNDABERG mother who crashed her car into a fence in Bundaberg, has blamed the crash on the high-powered car she was driving and the rain - not the alcohol in her system.

In Bundaberg Magistrates Court today, Hayley Suzan Montgomerie pleaded guilty to not having proper control of her car and driving her vehicle while over the middle alcohol limit.

The 31-year-old provisional driver pleaded with Magistrate Belinda Merrin to only give her a fine because taking away her licence would impact her family.

But Ms Merrin said because Montgomerie had alcohol in her system at the time of the crash she would be disqualified from driving for three months and fined a total of $950.

The crash happened on November 26, 2016.
