OUR SAY: Navy port move good for us all

MOVES to allow the US Navy to dock and refuel at Bundaberg's port is good news for the region.

If the politicians and authorities can make it happen it will boost the economy of the region.

The good thing about our port is that it the most northern port not impacted by the Great Barrier Reef.

It is also underutilised leaving plenty of room for expansion.

Currently we can see work forging ahead on the gas pipeline and the Knauff Plasterboard plant boosting confidence in the region.

These projects are the start of what should be a boom for the area.

If we can get the navy here, and a biofuel plant to complement the move, all of a sudden the opportunities for Bundaberg workers increase exponentially.

It will also encourage more businesses to move to the area

This is something we need to get behind to help bring prosperity to Bundaberg.
