Origin III: NSW player ratings
James Tedesco 8: Great speed and always a danger with ball. Caught balls on the full and lots of carries. Most dangerous Blue in attack. Makes his team's attack look so much more potent. Looks like he glides across the park when he gets the ball in some space.
Blake Ferguson 6½: Lost ball coming off Blues line, which led to Maroons try. Terrible error to make so early at this level. Bounced back to force an error on Greg Inglis. Nice athleticism to leap up and take a Johnathan Thurston chip in 20th minute, then earned a penalty and some good metres in the second half.
Michael Jennings 7: Caught offside in the 14th minute and went a little quiet before his dramatic late match-winning try.
Josh Dugan 6: Played a simple ball-running game out wide with his big frame. Sent to Gaga Land by the brick wall that is Greg Inglis in a rough call against the great Queensland centre.
Josh Mansour 7½: Went in looking for work and lots of metres again.
Matt Moylan 7½: Continually bobbed up on the Blues' sweeping plays. Beautiful short ball to Jackson to put him into hole in 27th minute. Handled five-eighth at this level very well.
James Maloney 7: Looked good when he ran the ball.
Aaron Woods 8: A threat with the ball. Nice ball-playing at line and plenty of hit-ups. Continues to show improvement in this arena.
Robbie Farah 7: Produced a great offload in the 25th minute but then a poor kick on the next tackle went straight to Queensland. Still a mountain of tackles, and still has attacking potency at this level despite his age and critics.
Paul Gallen (capt) 7½: Known for his tough runs throughout his 24-game Origin career, but a nice offload led to Tyson Frizell's try.
Wade Graham 7½: Solid and unfazed on debut. Threw a wild pass over the sideline as a frustrated Blues attack couldn't penetrate the resolute Queensland defence. But great start to the second half with clever kick off the ground leading to Andrew Fifita's controversial try, and displayed a clever short passing game.
Josh Jackson 6: Solid and tough again at this level. Costly error looking for a quick play-the-ball in the 57th minute then pushed into touch a couple of minutes later.
Tyson Frizell 7½: Typical blockbusting try in the 22nd minute. A handful, and another excellent showing at a level he belongs in. Always runs straight and hard. With his try it gave NSW a 6-4 lead.
Jack Bird 5: High energy on Dugan's edge after coming on for him in the second half, but not a lot of involvement.
James Tamou 6: Turnover looking for quick play the ball after coming on. Some strong runs though.
David Klemmer 6½: Some impact straight after coming on, earning a penalty after busting a tackle.
Andrew Fifita 5: Good hard running off the bench and rewarded with a try, albeit a controversial one. Then an absolute brain explosion to run in and collar Gavin Cooper after the North Queensland back-rower's try.
