Orientation week kicks off at uni

CQ UNIVERSITY was a hive of activity yesterday when almost 300 first-year students converged on the Bundaberg Campus for the first day of Orientation Week.

Marketing officer Mandy Finch said the group was the largest orientation cohort the university had ever had.

“We also had around 40 external students over the weekend,” she said.

Throughout the week the new students will learn about university life, including time management, assessment submission and scholarship opportunities.

Sisters Vicki Rebbeck and Kathryn Nuller, who have both enrolled in the Bachelor of Nursing, said Orientation Week was a good way to find their feet.

“It’s nice to know that everyone is in the same boat,” Ms Rebbeck said.

“I haven’t been to school for a long time so any information they give me is valuable. It is good being here together to give each other support through the week and the rest of the course.”
