Kids can win a $250 voucher for drawing
PRIMARY school kids in Bundaberg can win a $250 voucher and their school $500 in Workplace Health and Safety Queensland's drawing competition.
Winning drawings will feature in a 2017 calendar promoting key farm safety messages.
Member for Bundaberg Leanne Donaldson said students will learn how to be farm safe and help highlight many of the risks on agricultural properties through their masterpieces.
"We'd like students from prep to grade six to submit their drawings which will feature a safety message associated with farms," Ms Donaldson said.
"The 12 winners will have their works featured in a free calendar which will be distributed throughout Queensland later this year.
"This should encourage youngsters and their parents to talk and think about farm safety, while the calendars will remind even more Queenslanders to work and play safely on the land."
Entries close on Monday 8 August 2016. To be in the running, school kids must draw and colour a picture using the competition template which can be downloaded from worksafe.qld.gov.au.
The competition themes are:
- using quad bikes safely
- preventing drowning in farm dams and water bodies
- being safe around electricity
- riding horses safely
- safely storing hazardous chemicals
- hazards around farm machinery.
Entries will be judged on the clarity of the safety message, use of colour and creativity.
