Orchestra's final show a success

CROWDS who gathered for the Bundaberg Youth Orchestra's Proms Concert were insistent the talented young musicians return to the stage for an encore.

Classical music lovers gave their ears a special treat and turned out in full force for the annual Proms Concert at Shalom College, the orchestra's final performance for 2011.

The delicate tones of Gioachino Rossini's Willaim Tell Overture and Franz Josef Hayden's Surprise Symphony, the Second Movement were a delight for the near-capacity audience.

Bundaberg Youth Orchestra co-manager Narelle Chivers said the organisation's final effort for the year had been warmly received.

"It's fantastic that the public turned out in support and took the opportunity to see the talented kids we have here in Bundaberg."

The orchestra unveiled an original piece from member and multi-instrumentalist John Rotar titled Afternoon at the Dance Academy.

The orchestra will hold auditions for 2012 on November 19 and 20. For more information email: byo.committee@gmail.com.
