Options open for GP clinic

A MEETING to discuss an application to run the Bundaberg GP super clinic was held by the Indigenous Wellbeing Centre on Tuesday night.

Centre general manager Wayne Mulvany said the meeting consulted with general practitioners on the centre’s proposal for the $5 million clinic.

“We are keen to set up the GP super clinic to provide a place for doctors, nurses and other health services to provide care to Indigenous and low income-earning Bundaberg region residents,” Mr Mulvany said.

Mr Mulvany said the proposal put forward by the group would be similar to the model now used at the centre.

“We are looking to employ doctors in the clinic, but we will be attracting allied health and auxiliary services to come with us,” he said.

Mr Mulvany said the group was also exploring the best way to run a late-opening clinic.
