Op shop overflow day

ST JOHN'S Lutheran Op Shop overflowed onto the paved areas out front and back earlier this month, all in the name of fundraising.

Volunteer Jenny Sauer said St John's Primary School joined in with a stall, as well as the fundraising arm for the Asia Focus ministry.

"A busy week of preparation by manager Helen Simpson and her enthusiastic team of volunteers ended in a day of connections, chatter, laughter and great bargains for all who attended,” she said.

"Sausages sizzles were handed around to visitors and volunteers for free, as the purpose of the day was to give, rather than to receive.”

"A free cuppa flowed from the church's community room, as well as live music playing in the church.

Op shop coordinator Helen Simpson said the work of all the volunteers was appreciated and celebrated during worship on the following morning.

The St John's Op Shop is near the corner of Boundary and George St and is open from 10am to 3pm, Monday to Friday.

"The staff are welcoming and enjoy a chat with shoppers. They look forward to seeing you there,” Mrs Simpson said.
