One Nation bombshell about to drop in Canberra

THERE'S a One Nation "bombshell" about to drop in Canberra.

That's the word from Senator Derryn Hinch, who went on radio in Melbourne today to tease an impending announcement regarding Pauline Hanson's political party.

And speculation is mounting that it concerns Senator Hanson's controversial chief of staff James Ashby.

The former broadcaster turned politician told 3AW's Neil Mitchell that a "bombshell" would be dropped today, but was cagey on the details, simply saying it involved "a staffer, not a senator".

When specifically asked if it was regarding Mr Ashby, Senator Hinch said "no comment".

Senator Hanson and Mr Ashby have been in the spotlight for several weeks, after Four Corners investigation into alleged electoral financing irregularities.

Attention has been focused on donations received by the right wing party, and in particular a private plane Senator Hanson has used for travel.

Mr Ashby, who pilots the aircraft, insisted he was the owner.

One Nation is yet to comment and Mr Ashby, when doorstopped by journalists at Parliament House on Tuesday afternoon, said he didn't know what the fuss was about.
