Sunday 4/6/17 was our annual International Day.
We had a wonderful turn up with 96 players as 32 teams played a two bowls triples game.
This day is to celebrate all the different nationalities of our members.
Players were flying the Dutch, Bavarian, NZ, Swiss, Scottish, Welsh and British flag on the day.
It was a simple fun day of mateship, lots of fun, lots of raffles and lots of lucky rink draws.
The members thank all the hard working committee, helpers and the catering which was very good.
The District Men`s Champion of Club Championship Pairs was concluded over the weekend at Gin Gin and Easts Bowls Clubs.
The winners now proceed to the zone playoffs later in the year and a win there will put them in the last eight for the state title.
Giant killers Greg Jeppesen and Rod Doran (Elliott Heads) gave the event a big scare, defeating the favoured pairings of Nick Cahill and Paul Kajewski (Bargara) and Chris Toft and Daniel Stanton-Cook (ATW) by 28-16 and 18-16 respectively.
Meanwhile Rob Swallow and Noel Cullen (Burnett) had a great tussle with Easts Peter Ey and Greg McGrail to get up 15-14 prior to having a 24-13 win over the Woodgate boys Ray Henderson and Brian Mann.
The final saw Greg and Rod get away to a flyer with a lead of 12-1 after eight ends. Rob and Noel steadied and advanced, scoring one, one, and three before
throwing a long end and converting seven shots to lead 13-12. The game concluded without the Heads recording another end win whilst Burnett amassed a total of 29.
Next weekend sees the singles being played at Bargara on Saturday and then Moore Park on Sunday.
