All clubs in the region this week on June 6 and 7 played in the Bundaberg Shield which is held every year. The Bargara Ladies played in the final against Easts and won on the day so well done to T. Saturday 10/6/17 saw the Bargara Bowls Club hosting the district men's singles champion of champions for 2017

Matt Tonkin won his first game by the narrowest of margins.

Matt showed his true fighting spirit in coming from behind after being down 12 to zero.

Finally winning the game 25 to 23 over Greg McGrail from Easts Bowls Club. The game was close and played in great spirit. Congratulations on providing all who watched with fine viewing.

Matt played Tony Townsen from ATW in the afternoon match and was defeated 25-16 in another great game to watch.

Our Ladies have once again been triumphant in winning The Bundaberg Trophies Shield.

Club Championships

The Foursomes Championships are the next major event in the golfing calendar to be played over 27 holes on Saturday, June 24. Nomination forms are held in the clubhouse - we hope for a large turnout.

Reminder: The draw for the Seb and Allan's Match Play is posted on the clubroom notice board. Check to see who you will play - First round to be completed by July 8, President versus Captain's Match Play competition day.

Men

In the club sponsored single stableford competition on Saturday, Norm Plath won A Division with 41 points from Larry Pershouse on 39, with rundowns to Michael Stanton on 37and Kev Savage on 36.

Ken Albion won B Division also with 41 points, from Len Stallard on 34, with rundowns to Phil Pearce on 33 and Roger Draper on 32.

Kev Savage 6.37m) won the A Division pinshot on 1&10; Ken Albion (1.28m) the B Division approach. Nigel Radin (4.13m) won the A Division pinshot on 4&13; Bob Champney (6.88m) the B Division pinshot.

Clinton Dowling recorded an eagle on the par 5, ninth hole.

Next week we might play a stroke competition to prepare for the Foursomes the following Saturday.

Women

On Thursday, Lisa Cooney recorded 38 points to win the single stableford competition from Marg Dennett on 35. Kerry Schnack (in the hole) won the nearest the pin approach.

On Saturday, Fiona Dowling recorded 37 points to win the single stableford competition from Lisa Coney on 36 and Cynthia Draper on 33.

Fiona (0.31m) won the approach on 6&15, while Cynthia claimed a silver circle on 4&13, her pinshot 2.72m from the hole.

Next Saturday we might play a single stroke competition as a prelude to the upcoming Foursomes championship.

Vets

On Tuesday, June 6, with many members travelling to Maryborough to compete for the Childerborough Cup, a smaller than usual field competed in the single stableford competition.

Craig Reynolds won with 39 points from Phil Luckett on 36, with rundowns to Kieth Rule on 36, Dean Page and Barry Steinke on 35.

Craig (0.45) also won the approach on 1&10; Kieth ule (0.62m) the approach on 4&13.

Chook Run winners were: Craig Reynolds on 30 and Kieth Rule on 31.
