Off-leash dog laws to spark debate

SOME intense debate over the issue of off-leash areas for dogs is expected at tonight’s Bargara Progress Association meeting.

Association treasurer Robyn McKinney said it was a big issue in the area.

“There are a lot of people for and a lot of people against,” she said.

Mrs McKinney said there was a big turnout at the last meeting, when the issue was expected to be debated, but she expected an even bigger crowd tonight.

Guest speakers would include RSPCA inspector Amanda Yates, local vet Steve Chapman, Bundaberg regional Councillor Greg Barnes and a senior council representative.

The meeting is to be held in the Bargara Cultural and Community Centre from 7pm.
