Heightened risk of fires in region
THERE is now a heightened risk of bushfires and Ergon is asking land holders to take extreme care if they're planning a burn-off.
Ergon executive general manager of operations, Peter Billing, said the message the power company wanted to get across was that if landowners intended to do a burn-off, be aware of any power structures on or near properties.
Some dry areas were at greater risk, including places where flooding had created abundant fuel, Mr Billing said.
