THE students at North Bundaberg State High School will be Footloose tonight when they perform Back to the 80s ... The Totally Awesome musical.

Now they may not be Kids in America but the vocals and dance that go with the show will amaze the audience.

The students had an Eye of the Tiger for detail, teacher Belinda Arnold said, and created their own outfits.

"Surprisingly 80s attire wasn't too hard to come by," she said.

And they have been working almost 9 to 5 practising for the two big nights.

"They have put a lot of their own time into the performances including Sundays," Mrs Arnold said.

Students may shout Let's Hear it for the Boy for Timothy White, who is not only is cast as Corey Senior but also is assistant director.

SCHOOL STANDS UP TO BULLIES

"This is my first opportunity to direct and I'm very excited," he said.

"This year we weren't doing a musical so I went to the principal and asked if we could.

"We were given three options, the other two about disco. I think everyone is excited we chose Back to the 80's."

The act is sure to leave the audience Walking on Sunshine.
