Love is still in the air for Norman and Sylvia Bates

SIXTY years of marriage and Norman and Sylvia Bates have a love that is still going strong.

Mr and Mrs Bates were married at St Andrews Anglican Church in Lansvale, NSW, on September 10, 1955.

The pair moved to Bundaberg about 25 years ago and spent the first 12 years living in Burnett Heads before they moved to Argyle Gardens.

Celebrations were held in Sydney with their four children, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

They were blown away after receiving letters and cards from the Queen, governor general, prime minister, Queensland premier, Bundaberg mayor and local members.
