No studio trickery

THERE'S an old saying - third time's a charm - but Peter Knight prefers the term 4th Time Lucky.

That's the name the Bundaberg-based singer/songwriter has given his latest album.

The musician, who also plays in local bands the Bucketseats and Short Circuit, recorded the solo album at his aptly named Ozland Recording Studio - a place he designed and built himself including much of the equipment used to record the album.

With David Lye on drums, multi-instrumentalist Peter takes care of

songwriting, vocals and plays all of the other instruments.

"I knew I had written some of my best songs to date, and together with David's sensitive and thoughtful drumming, we had made a truly honest record," Peter said.

"No studio trickery or auto tune - just real playing and singing."

When it came time to master the album, Peter enlisted a recording industry legend, Nashville-based Bob Olhsson.

"I wanted someone who could maintain the artistic integrity of what we had achieved, while bringing the clarity and cohesion that is demanded today," he said.

4th Time Lucky, which took the better part of a year to finish, is an album of honest songwriting and sonic depth.

The album is available online at http://www.ozlandmusic.com and at Kountdown Kafe in Targo St.
