No sign of truce over skatebowl

MEMBER for Burnett Rob Messenger has again called for Bundaberg Regional Council mayor Lorraine Pyefinch and councillor Greg Barnes to sign a petition to stop the construction of a skatebowl at Innes Park Reserve.

“This petition is a significant indication of the community’s attitude towards the skatebowl at Innes Park Reserve and should give council cause to reassess their position and take the project back to the drawing board,” Mr Messenger said.

Cr Pyefinch said she was unable to sign the petition as it stated council had “failed to properly consult, listen and act on the majority of current local residents’ wishes”.

“There have been many opportunities for this group to provide their feedback to council over the past 12 months and at the end of the day they have not been able to convince a majority of councillors to support them,” she said.

Cr Pyefinch said the public consultations had included public meetings, hard copy surveys and an online survey.
