New trailer released for second Hobbit film
THE countdown to Christmas is on, but Hobbit fans are counting down to the Boxing Day release of the latest movie in the film franchise.
A new trailer was released today for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, director Peter Jackson's action-packed fantasy starring Martin Freeman.
"Truly, the tales and songs fall utterly short of your enormity, oh Smaug the stupendous," Freeman's character Bilbo Baggins says in the trailer's opening scene.
The two-minute, 28-second clip also hints at a possible romance between elves Legolas, reprised by Orlando Bloom, and Tauriel, played by Evangeline Lilly.
The clip is also the first time fans get to hear British actor Benedict Cumberbatch voice the dragon Smaug.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens in Australia on December 26.
