OUR SAY: New PM a breath of fresh air

AUSTRALIA may have had five prime ministers in five years but I think Monday night's decision is the right one for the nation.

Before Tony Abbott came to power I thought Julia Gillard was the worst PM I had seen but Mr Abbott's continued bungling of major issues and out of touch commentary leaves Julia looking pretty good.

In my book Abbott has embarrassed our nation at home and overseas.

He has been unable to answer tough questions, talk in easy language and reluctant to reprimand colleagues like the high flying Bronwyn Bishop and the cigar smoking Joe Hockey. This coupled with his uncomfortable looking smile and gait has seen his popularity and the country's confidence plummet.

What Australia needs is a popular, open, stable and accountable leader who is in touch with the grass roots but who can also rebuild our economy.

I hope Mr Turnbull is that man because the last thing we need is more political upheaval.
