New life for Monduran Dam fish

THE Monduran Anglers and Stocking Association have been busy releasing barramundi and bass fingerlings into Lake Monduran over the past few weeks.

A total of 130,000 barramundi fingerlings from the Bowen hatchery and 152,000 bass from Bill Proctor’s hatchery in Bundaberg have been released.

Club president John Finlay said stocking the fingerlings into the dam played a huge part in the tourism of the local area.

“We get anglers from all over Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales coming to fish in our stocked impoundment,” he said.

“Not only are we looking after the anglers of today, but also those of the future, and this is important for our region’s economy.”
