Nash soars to a high jump record

A LARGE crowd of athletes turned up at Kuorikoski Oval for Bundaberg Athletics and West Bundaberg Little Athletics club meet on Friday night.

Despite the humid conditions, many PBs were set and some records broken.

Under-10 athlete Nash Kuorikoski made a huge jump of 1.29m to set the current club high jump record for his age.

Sara Webster added nearly 10 metres to her PB for javelin throw while Ben Galea has also shown some impressive results over the past few weeks, including a 3m improvement in his javelin throw to 27.56m.

Other notable improvements were made by Connor Cole, Logan Major, Aiden Meldrum, Jacob Treloar, Jessie Williams, Laura Baizeley, Brodie Wallace and Amber Williams.

Many of the club’s younger athletes are preparing for the QLAA Regional Championships, to be held in Maryborough on February 13 and 14.

This major annual event gives athletes the opportunity to compete against others in the wider region and hopefully go on to Brisbane for the Queensland championships.
