Mt Perry Hotel gets new owners

THE Mt Perry Hotel owners Margaret Taylor, 93, and her son Herb have signed the hotel over to Tanya Van Oosten, a well-respected Gayndah girl.

It's the end of an era for the mother-and-son duo as they start a new chapter in Mt Perry.

Proven in good country cooking and hospitality, Ms Van Oosten will continue to bring a friendly face and happy smile to all those who visit the hotel.

Tanya and her great team, Mel, Nicky, Sherry, Paige and Trish have great plans for the hotel, with weekly darts and pool competitions including monthly live entertainment.

Available seven days a week are great home-cooked meals for lunch and dinner, with catering for functions also available.

The hotel is also heavily involved with the annual Mt Perry Woodchop held on the second Saturday in October, with the event being held on the grounds.

The Annual Dump Truck Pull will be in August, by Evolution Mining and is held on the road in front of the hotel.

Mt Perry is a historically significant town nestled in a valley near Mt Perry, the area's highest mountain.

Gold mining continues to be an important industry in the area, while the popular Mt Perry Races remains a fixture on the calendars of many people in the region.
